Budgeting
Spend with purpose.
Leave room for life.
A realistic budget helps you choose where to spend, where to simplify, and how much breathing room you need. Start with a total, then make the numbers work for your priorities.

Separate fixed costs from daily spending. Flights, trains, visas, and insurance are usually easier to price early. Food, local transport, and activities need a realistic daily allowance. Include city taxes, luggage fees, card fees, and airport transfers. A low headline airfare does not always mean a low total trip cost.
Spend on what matters most
Choose one or two experiences that deserve a larger share of your budget. Save elsewhere by staying longer in one place, using public transport, or choosing a simple guesthouse. Do not cut costs by ignoring insurance, safety, or essential accessibility. Meaningful trade-offs are better than minimizing every expense.
Make uncertainty visible
A contingency allowance of 10–20% can be a useful starting point, but the right amount depends on the destination, season, and your financial situation. Keep access to emergency funds separately. Check your card’s foreign transaction rules and use trusted providers. Compare conversion rates before accepting a merchant’s offer to charge in your home currency.
